Wheel of The Year

Wheel of The Year

Throughout the year we learn crafts that follow the cycle of the seasons. Every month we will host various workshops. We weave, spin, forage, bake, bind books, make soap, knit — and in every way recall the crafts of our ancestors, connect to the earth, and make things that are useful.

We start with the spring equinox and follow the Wheel of the Year until spring equinox 2027. You are welcome to join anytime of the year.

We have a community of members who offer their crafts and share their skills with us. We have workshops in various locations, so you can join the one that is closets to you - or your heart.

WORKSHOPS

We gather to learn crafts. Each month we dive deep into a new craft - fx harvest of plants and weaving baskets, making paper and binding books, plant-dyeing and eco-printing, foraging and fermenting.

At every workshop you will leave with something to take home, and skills for life.

THE PROGRAMME 2026/27

MARCH: BOOK BINDING

This year we will start with binding books - books that can be used for our notes, our recipes and dreams. We will also make our own paper - to make covers - and use natural thread to bind it all together. To make the paper we build our own frame for it.

APRIL: REGENERATIVE GARDENING

We will tend the soil of our garden beds, weed, feed the microorganisms and sow seeds. We will make nettle fertilizer and compost tea. Throughout the year we will be fed and provided with materials from our garden.

MAY: CARVE SPOONS

We will harvest wood and carve our own kitchen utensils. This is such a useful skill to have, and we have been craving it for years! It is finally going to happen.

JUNE: WILD FERMENTS

We will forage, connect with plants and make our own wild wine with flowers and fruits. Something that can easily be done throughout the entire year.

JULY: WEAVING BASKETS

We will harvest plants and weave baskets with them. We will be introduced to different local plants, how to process them for weaving and different methods for weaving baskets.

AUGUST: WILD CLAY

We will explore the area for wild clay, make vessels with our hands, build a clay oven and burn clay in an open pit fire. We will learn all the steps from foraging clay to having a finished vessel in our hands.

SEPTEMBER: PLANT DYE

We will eco-print, plant dye, and make cyanotypes with plants. We will learn about different mordants and fabrics, plants and seasons for plant dying. You get the chance to give your clothes a fresh start.

OCTOBER: BODY CARE

We will make cold-pressed soap bars, oils and balms for the skin, and natural cleaning agents for our homes. This is such a beautiful chance to become more self-sufficient and less dependent on beauty products - which we really don't know what contain. These handmade products are all natural, zero-waste and smell delicious.

NOVEMBER: SEWING

We will upcycle clothes, and make visible mends with sashiko-inspired embroidery. This is a great chance to give clothing a second chance at life. We repair and care for our textiles, and also make a unique art piece to wear.

DECEMBER: BEES WAX

We will dip candles and host the coziest christmas market in Skovhaven. Every member is invited to sell their crafts on this market.

JANUARY: SPINNING

We will process, card and spin wool and linen. This is such a game-changer for a more sustainable production. We have our fibres grown and processed, locally.

FEBRUARY: LOOM WEAVING

We will thread and weave on a loom. Something we have been dreaming of for many years - hence earth WEAVERS! We will take the handspun threads and turn them into textiles and tapestries.
